South Monterey County is known for is rich agriculture and smaller rural towns. These towns are located along Highway 101 south of Salinas to near the border of Monterey County. Soledad is located in one of the primary wine grape growing regions of California with over twenty vineyards and wineries within a thirty mile radius, several of which have tasting rooms and offer a wide selection of wines for sale. Some of the vineyards and wineries located nearby are Chalone, Scheid, Paraiso Vineyards, Pisoni Vineyards, Hahn Estate, San Saba, J.Lohr, Kendall-Jackson, Ventana, Hess Select, Estancia, The Michaud Vineyard, and Graff Family Vineyards.
Arroyo Seco is another notable mention in the vast south Monterey County area. It can be access from any of the 4 cities and lies just west of Greenfield and is home to many great Vineyards, Cattle Ranches, Horse Farms, and camp sites along the rivers.
